FAQ

  • What should I say if I'm asked "Why do you want to study in the US?"

This is likely to be the first question you are asked and likely one of the most important answers you will provide. You should answer this question with honesty, clarity, and specific reasons for selecting your university and program. Be careful to not focus so much on comparing US universities to other countries’ universities; you have selected one university from within the US and it is expected that you have good reasons for doing that, so be sure to highlight those.

  • What should I say if I'm asked "Why did you choose your university?"

You should answer honestly and include two to three supporting reasons for making the decision you made. Highlight the important factors that caused you to choose the university and the program. Do not attempt to answer with what you think the consular officer wants to hear; answer with the reasons that matter to you.

  • What should I expect from the visa prep coaching session?

ac global’s visa coaching sessions are designed to give you an overview of the visa interview, what questions to expect, how to best prepare yourself, and preparing yourself to feel confident going into the interview. You will provide your details when you book your session, so ac global will have an overview of you and be able to maximize the session and time together.

  • If I participate in a coaching session, do you guarantee I’ll get a visa?

No. There are no guarantees of receiving a visa from participating in a coaching session with ac global. The coaching session is designed to provide you with increased confidence, knowledge, and preparedness in order to be your best at the interview, but we cannot and do not offer guaranteed success.

  • How long does my F1 visa interview last?

Most F1 visa interviews last around 2-4 minutes. You should not expect to engage in a 20-minute conversation; you need to be prepared to provide detailed, concise answers to the questions you are asked. ac global encourages students to prepare their responses to be 25-40 seconds in length, which is typically enough time to answer clearly and with details.

  • What kinds of questions should I prepare for?

You are likely to be asked questions about why you want to study in the US, why you chose your particular university and program, how your education will be funded, and what your plans are at the conclusion of your studies. Depending on your responses, there may be clarifying or related questions asked to you. Discussing these questions and supporting you in being confident in your interview is one of the key benefits when you book a coaching session with ac global.

  • What expertise do you have with visa interviews? Did you work at a US embassy or consulate?

ac global is led by Adam Copeland, who has worked for more than 15 years with international students just like yourself, looking to study for a degree from a US university. Though he has not been a consulate officer, he designed and delivered visa interview training at a global company for seven years, improving visa success rates for students. He is an educator, trainer, motivator, coach, and enthusiastic supporter, particularly for students looking to study outside their home country to chase their dreams.

  • I don't know if 25-minutes is enough time. Can I book multiple sessions?

Absolutely! If you are interested in booking multiple sessions, you can do so through the same booking system. Some clients prefer to book back-to-back sessions; other clients book a few days apart, in order to give space between sessions further prepare.
